Compatibility of NI Products with Apple Silicon Processors (M-Series)

  • To use the plug-in versions of the products that are compatible via Rosetta 2 only, it is necessary to start your DAW using Rosetta. Here you can learn how to do this.
  • The products that are natively compatible with Apple Silicon do not require Rosetta.

Important Notes

  • Only current generation class-compliant devices are supported in these macOS systems. These devices do not require a driver installation and work simply by connecting them to the computer.

  • If a device is not listed below, this means it is not supported by these macOS systems.

  • Devices labeled MK2 (or MK3) are later-generation models that run on class-compliant driver technology. The earlier MK1 versions are therefore not officially supported on macOS 11 (or higher).

  • Most of the devices listed below offer a Device Updater to update the firmware installed on your device. We strongly recommend to download and install the latest Device Updater from our Drivers & Other Files page in order to avoid possible functionality issues. Read more about updating the firmware of your device in this article.

  • From macOS 10.15 and higher, the operability of some NI legacy hardware is terminated. This includes MASCHINE MK1, MASCHINE MIKRO MK1, AUDIO 2 / 4 / 8 DJ, TRAKTOR AUDIO 2 MK1, and TRAKTOR S2 / S4 / X1 MK1.

    The workaround for macOS 10.12 - 10.14 (as described in this article) does not work on macOS 10.15 or higher. If you still want to use these legacy devices, you can only do so on a compatible OS.

    The workaround for macOS 10.12 - 10.14 (as described in this article) does not work on macOS 10.15. If you still want to use these legacy devices, you can only do so on a compatible OS.

  • Newer NI devices do not require a driver. The corresponding cells in the below tables are identified as class compliant. Read more about OS X class compliant drivers and NI devices in this article.

  • Some devices additionally offer a Device Updater to update the firmware installed on your device. An asterisk ( * ) next to the device name in the tables below indicates that a Device Updater is available. We strongly recommend to download and install the latest Device Updater from our Drivers & Other Files page in order to avoid possible functionality issues.   • Some NI devices offer both audio interface and controller functionality. They are summarized in the tables Audio Interface + Controller for each corresponding brand (KOMPLETE, MASCHINE and TRAKTOR) below. These devices may require a driver, Device Updater and Controller Editor installation. Note that any issues observed with these devices should be handled separatedly: If your device is not playing any audio, verify that the correct driver / Device Updater has been installed.
