A recent Windows 11 security change has caused the operating system to block our ASIO drivers for the Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 and Traktor Kontrol S4 MK3. Under these circumstances Traktor will show a red audio icon in the header when selecting the ASIO driver.
WASAPI (Exclusive): A High-Performance Native Alternative
If you are currently affected by this block, we highly recommend switching to the native Windows WASAPI (Exclusive) driver. In Traktor Pro 4.5, we have heavily optimized our WASAPI integration precisely to serve as a robust, modern alternative to ASIO. It delivers identical pro-grade audio quality and ultra-low latency, making it fully equipped for professional live performance, including DVS usage and daily use without triggering Windows security blocks.
Ongoing ASIO Development with Microsoft
We are fully aware that there are specific corner cases and advanced audio routing setups where an ASIO driver allows for more flexibility. Because these specialized workflows are vital to some of our users, we are actively working with Microsoft to evaluate an ASIO driver update.
How to Switch to WASAPI (Exclusive)
For users whose workflows allow them to utilize WASAPI, you can transition to it by following these steps:
Uninstall the ASIO Driver: Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps and completely uninstall the dedicated Traktor ASIO driver for your S2 MK3 or S4 MK3 unit.
Connect and Launch: Ensure your controller is plugged in, then open Traktor Pro 4.
Select WASAPI (Exclusive): Open Preferences > Audio Setup and select the according outputs and inputs on the Output and Input Routing Preference pages. With the legacy ASIO driver removed, the WASAPI (Exclusive) option for your controller will now be available in the audio interface menu.
Thank you for your ongoing patience as we work closely with Microsoft on the ASIO front.
Best regards,
The Native Instruments Team
