MPC 3.6 Firmware

In this guide, I will show you how to adjust the Time Signature of the track in MPC 3.6 and how to change the project default so that your project opens with the appropriate Time Signature that fits your needs.

Time Signature Per Track:

1. Press Main or navigate to Menu > Main Mode.

2. Click the Time Signature highlighted in yellow.

3. The Project Time Signature window will appear, choose your Time Signature and click Do It.

Changing the Project Defaults:

As an alternative, you can change the time signature with which a new project loads. To do this, select the preferences menu, and then the project defaults tab.

To adjust the time signature, change the following two options:

Default Time Signature Numerator: This determines the number of beats per bar of a new sequence (the top number of a time signature).

Default Time Signature Denominator: This determines the value of each beat of a new sequence (the bottom number of a time signature).

Each new project will load with this time signature, until it is changed again.

Note: Time Signatures will not function per Sequence as they did in MPC 2 firmware, this is because of the new workflow in the Linear Arrangement.

MPC 2 Firmware

If you wish to modify the time signature in the MPC 2 firmware, please refer to the guide below:

Inserting bars into a sequence

1. To insert bars into a sequence, tap the pencil icon to the right of the sequence tab, as seen below.

2. Once selected, the following menu will appear. Select 'insert bars'.

3. On the following tab, select the sequence you would like to add the bars to, as well as the desired length, time signature and position. The new bars will now be at the selected time signature.
