Many users read the user guide for the 900R and see that a variety of formats and sizes are available with their device, only to have problems with the device when trying to use that storage. In this article we'll talk about a few extra limitations on the storage and what to look out for.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
USB
USB storage devices should always explicitly work with USB 2.0. While many USB 3 storage devices do work with USB 2.0, in some USB Devices that are labeled USB 3.1 and above, there isn't that backwards compatibility, and as a result the USB port on the 900R will not be able to power it correctly. A requirement for USB 3.0 is 900mA of power, of which the port on the unit sends 500mA. as such it is important to make sure that the device you are attempting to use explicitly mentions that it is USB 2.0 compatible.
SD Cards
SD cards with the DN-900R can support a variety of sizes, but the unit itself will only support SD and SDHC cards. The card's type will always be printed on the face of the card itself, allowing you to know before buying what the card's type is-
Of these 3 logos, SDXC is not supported on the DN-900R.
Server
While there should be any limitations on media being archived via server, it's important to review the FTP setup article if you have any issues. Please see Denon Professional | Setting up an FTP Server on Windows 11
