Headphone Connection Type

Your Alesis Drum Module is designed to work with headphones that have a TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) connection with 2-rings around the connection jack. This type of connection is commonly found on headphones that are designed for use with musical instruments and audio equipment.

If you're not sure whether your headphones feature a TRS connection, see the image below for reference:

It is important to note that you should not use headphones with a TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) connection that features 3-rings around the jack. These headphones are designed for use with smartphones and other mobile devices and are not compatible with your Alesis Drum Module.

TRRS headphones with an Alesis Drum Module can result in low audio output, audio cutting out or loss of mono audio (Kick / Snare).

If you're not sure whether your headphones feature a TRRS connection, see the image below for reference:

If you are still unsure about the type of headphone connection your headphones have, check the documentation that came with your headphones or contact the manufacturer for more information.

Connection Types - Where should I connect my headphones?

Your Alesis Drum Module features a dedicated 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone output - Be sure to connect directly to the headphone output located on your drum module.

The 1/4" (6.35mm) main output connections on your module are designed for connectivity to Powered Speakers (Alesis Strike Amp), Mixer, Amplifier or Recorder - These connections supply a line-level output and are not suitable for direct headphone connectivity.

If your headphones are pre-fitted with a 1/4" (6.35mm) adapter, it's too large to connect to the dedicated 1/8" headphone output - In many cases, the adapter can be removed by unscrewing or gently pulling the adapter away.

Alesis headphones such as DRP100 or SRP100 are pre-fitted with a 1/4" (6.35mm) adapter; turn the adapter counter-clockwise to unscrew and reveal the 1/8' (3.5mm) connection.
