Don’t you wish your installers could run any and every version of the DSP control software needed, at any job site they encounter, new or old? And do so without uninstalling and reinstalling anything? We did too. This is why Halogen allows running any and every version – one at a time – on the same computer. HAL knows.

To install the newest Halogen software, yet still allow a previous version of Halogen to run on the same computer, follow these instructions:

  1. Within the default Halogen installation folder, create a new folder. Call the new folder, for example, “Halogen V1.0”
The default install location is C:/Program Files (x86)/Rane Corporation/Halogen/.  The new empty folder would be: C:/Program Files (x86)/Rane Corporation/Halogen V1.0/
  2. Copy (do not move) the entire contents of the original Halogen install folder to the newly created folder.
  3. Install the newer version of Halogen (from the Rane website download or from the installation DVD).

If you had a desktop Halogen icon, it will now open the newly installed version since it still points to the default, and now new, install. If you want a second desktop icon to easily launch the older version of Halogen (which may be simultaneously convenient and confusing), browse to the new folder you created and right-click on the older Halogen.exe file in the Halogen V1.0 folder. Select Create Shortcut and move the shortcut to the desktop.
