Hardware Setup


Please Note: Before following the steps below, make sure you have the latest version of your Oxygen Pro firmware installed. This can be found in your account after registering your keyboard, or on the product page for your Oxygen Pro. 

 

1. Connect the Oxygen Pro to your computer.


2. Press and hold the DAW button (#5) on your Oxygen Pro keyboard.

Note: On the Oxygen Pro Mini, and Oxygen Pro 25, press the Preset/DAW button when in DAW mode (button lit).

3. Using the Encoder directly below the OLED screen (#8), scroll to “Cubase” and then press the Encoder to select it.

4. Press and hold the Shift button, and press the Global button.

5. Using the Encoder directly below the OLED screen, scroll to PC, and then press the Encoder to enter into selecting your OS.

6. Use the Encoder and select Mac if you are using a macOS or Win if you are using a Windows OS. 


Note: This setting is not available on the Oxygen Pro Mini, so this step can be ignored.


The Oxygen Pro has 2 modes, Preset and DAW mode. When in DAW mode all of the controls will be used for controlling DAW functions and controls. When in Preset mode all of the controls will be used for controlling Virtual Instrument parameters and controls.

Software Setup


1. Click Studio and navigate to Studio Setup….




2. Click on MIDI Port Setup, and select Oxygen Pro, MIDIIN3, and MIDIOUT3 as Visible, and Oxygen Pro as Visible and All MIDI In Selected.


IMPORTANT:  Do not have “All MIDI In” active for MIDIIN3. This causes issues with the faders sending unwanted pitch messages.


3. Click MIDI Remote, then select Open MIDI Remote Manager.



4. Click Add Surface.



5. Configure the following settings...


Vendor: Mackie 


Model: Write Oxygen Pro


Script Creator: Write Your Name 


Input Port: MIDIIN3 (Oxygen Pro) 


Output Port: No Output Port



6. Click Create MIDI Controller Surface.

7. In the next window, you will see a grid appear. Select the control type you'd like to map from the side menu.



8. Manually move each control on your Oxygen Pro, and you will see their corresponding controller icon appear on the screen.



9. Right click a generated icon and select Pick for MIDI Remote Mapping.



10. In the Mapping Assistant window that appears, select a function for your chosen control in the Functions Browser.



11. Repeat steps 9 - 10 for all of the controls on your Oxygen Pro.

Creating an Instrument Track


1. In Cubase, go to Project > Add Track > Instrument.

2. In the drop-down menu, select a Virtual Instrument.

3. Click “Add Track”.

4. The virtual instrument should be controllable with the Oxygen Pro series keyboard while in Preset mode.
