What is BFD Decatom?
BFD Decatom is an expansion pack for BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2 featuring a set of tuned toms with pitches covering over an octave.
What do I need in order to use BFD Decatom?
BFD Decatom requires a registered copy of BFD3, BFD Eco or BFD2 (versions 2.1 and later only) and a suitable system on which to run it.
Please note that, due to BFD Eco's slot/channel configuration, you can only load 6 of the supplied toms at once in BFD Eco (in the 3 Tom and 3 Perc slots).
Can I use this product with BFD 1.x?
No - this expansion can only be used with BFD3, BFD Eco or BFD2 (versions 2.1 or later only). BFD 2.1 is a free update to all registered BFD2 users.
Why does it have these requirements?
BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2.1 (and later versions) are equipped to handle the data format and custom channel layout featured in this expansion; previous versions of BFD2 and BFD 1.x cannot.
What kind of limitations exist when using this product with BFD Eco?
When using this expansion in BFD Eco, limitations apply in terms of the audio channels and articulations that are available (this is one of BFD Eco's limitations, as opposed to the fully-featured BFD3 or BFD2).
Also, any presets or kits contained within this expansion pack are not compatible with BFD Eco (although individual kit-pieces can be loaded as normal).
BFD Eco is a streamlined instrument based on the BFD2 engine.
What are these instruments?
BFD Decatom features DW Deccabons - a unique set of 10 'tuned toms'. Each drum possesses the same head size with a different depth ranging from 6" for the highest pitch to 24" for the lowest.
How are the toms in BFD Decatom organized after installation?
All Decatoms are classified as Toms within your BFD installation. Each drum has 2 articulations which offer different beater types: Hit (stick) and Alt (mallet).
Is BFD Decatom an FXpansion product?
Yes - it was produced by John Emrich for FXpansion at the request of many users and is distributed in download form on the FXpansion site.
What mics were used for the recordings?
- Direct channel: a mix of signals from Violet Wedge (top) and Sennheiser 421 (inside)
- Overhead: Nevaton MC404
- Room: Violet Globe
How big is the download?
Approximately 300MB.
Do you allow license transfers?
Yes, however:
- If you're the seller, you must contact us in advance of the sale. If you're the prospective second-hand buyer, you must check that the seller is cleared to sell. If in doubt, contact us.
- Review copies, NFRs (Not For Resale copies, sometimes used for in-store demos), etc., cannot be transferred under any circumstances.
- We reserve the right to refuse a license transfer request.
Once a transfer is authorized the new owner is entitled to exactly the same upgrade paths and technical support resources as if they had bought the product new.
